Even with snow it is beautiful at Watch Point! We are excited for the spring in the next few weeks. You can hear the crackling of ice shifting and popping like an old wooden floor. Soon there will be sweet smelling flowers pushing through the ground and the wildlife will be even more active! The family of deer will have new fawns and majestic raptors will be flying high and low in search of food. When the Blue Heron family flies over to the point or bay, they make their presence known by a low pitched "squawk" until they get to their landing strip! The big fish will be. leaping out of the water grabbing food that hover near the top of the water. When the waves are quiet and slow, hear the crackling sound of "plunk" and "splash" rivet across the lake to the cottage deck. The waves will be moving fast with the large Bass or Pike that just caught it's meal. It is an exciting and yet tranquil feeling, as the fire in the chimney shows me it almost spring, but the blue skies and energy of the massive lake makes the days feel magical and peaceful!
It's a Winter Wonderland! This place is magical anytime of year and we love all that it offers us - all year long! The temperature today is a balmy 24 degrees and we love the frozen lake with it's true mirror-like effects of the blue sky. God's country in VT!
It's cold here at the Lake! Still, even though spring, summer and fall are what we look forward to all through the winter months, it's breathtaking at Watch Point in this frozen secluded part of the USA! It looks like the Tundra now! The whitest snow...just brushing gently against the shimmering frozen, icy lake is one of the prettiest sights on earth. It won't be long though, when one of the most natural environments in the country is harmonized with the sounds of waves ebbing and flowing, seagulls soaring overhead, eagles and blue herons flapping just inches above a gentle, warm, sun-kissed lake below... |
